Dr Julie Frier

Doctor

Having qualified as a doctor in 1992, Julie has worked in the healthcare system for over thirty years. She spent ten years specialising in paediatrics working across a range of acute and community care settings across Scotland and the Southwest. Julie became increasingly aware of the need for prevention and early intervention and whilst completing a Masters in Child Public Health and made a career change to train in public health. Since then, she has been able to combine these two interests in her practice, working in Plymouth as a consultant in public health with a lead responsibility for children and young people since 2009, being in Plymouth City Council since 2013. Her other key areas of responsibility are health protection and overseeing training of Specialty Registrars, as they become future public health consultants. She enjoys teaching and has taught public health to medical students at University of Plymouth for many years.
